Identifying sentence errors content: misplaced modifiers and dangling participial phrases
Description:
In questions that ask you to identify sentence errors, major grammatical
problems spots are misplaced modifiers and dangling participial
phrases.
For example, consider the following sentence:
Driving by the house, a bird flew at my windshield.
Because
of the misplaced modifier, this sentence literally means the bird was
driving the car. Instead, it could be reformulated as follows:
When I drove by the house, a bird flew at my windshield.
