SAT Prep Plan: SAT Tips

Tip of the Day 3

Timing is everything.

When you take practice SAT tests, get used to the timed aspect of this test: It is VERY hard for most students to finish the SAT in the time allotted.

Set up a timer (or at least a wall clock) that will tell you when the time for a specific portion is up. And remember to divide your time up productively: Do the easiest questions quickly, give the moderately difficult questions more time, and dash through the most difficult questions. (Hint: The questions in each section are generally ordered from easiest to hardest). This lets you net the most right answers by diverting time to the questions that will give you the biggest reward for the effort. On the SAT, always remember: Keep up the pace!
